Buried deep under the surface of the moon, beneath Moonbase Alpha, is the huge hangar where all Eagle Transporter Spacecraft are housed, maintained and repaired. Here sub assembly and pod selection is carried out for a specific mission prior to launch. Sixteen 12 (Product Enterprise) Space 1999 Eagle Transporter 12″ (300mm) Die Cast. Year 1 – Episode 8: It is 877 days since the moon was blasted from Earth’s orbit. On Alpha, after attempting to hijack an Eagle, Captain Tony Cellini is seized and taken to the Medical Section in an unstable and agitated state where Dr Helena Russel deems him a threat to himself and all on Moonbase Alpha. As a lifetime friend of Cellini, Koenig refuses to accept her diagnosis.

Flashback: 1996. Cellini is commander of the high-profile, seven-month, Ultra Probe mission to investigate the newly discovered planet Ultra. On arriving at Ultra, the ship encountered a flotilla of drifting alien spacecraft, and upon boarding one vessel, encounter a huge, tentacled creature with one giant glowing eye and gaping maw emitting a deafening scream. All crew are horrifically devoured by the creature and only Cellini escapes. Using the ULTRA PROBE COMMAND MODULE as a lifeboat, surviving only on rations and his wits, he makes the long journey back to Earth.

Now, many years later, the inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha find themselves in the same region of Space and are about to encounter the same terrifying nightmare…

Taking a Rescue Eagle, Commander John Koenig and his team set off to investigate. Upon deploying its Rescue Pod and docking with the alien craft via magnetic air lock, the Rescue Eagle heads back to Alpha while the crew begin to explore inside the strange vessel.

This Very Special Limited Edition features the Mk IX Hawk as it was originally painted and delivered to the Studio for filming. The original brief from Designer Brian Johnson, was as the Hawk was from the same “Fleet” as the Eagle Transporter this should be reflected not only in its design but in colour scheme as well. However, shortly before filming of the miniature began, it was decided the too closely resembled the Eagle Transporters and was quickly re-painted at the Studio in the distinctive orange livery seen in the final episode.
